Cyber attacks in India are steadily increasing. There have been 22 such incidents in the last quarter, which have been widely regarded by the block-chain and Internet of Things as the biggest weapon of cyber criminals. The central government will announce a cyber security policy in January next year to curb the escalating attacks. The report says that 1852 cyber attacks occur every minute in the country. Maharashtra, Delhi and West Bengal have the highest number of cyber attacks.
1. IOT and block chain became a weapon:-
- Indian Cyber Security | According to a report by a firm working in the research and software sector, cyber criminals are using blockchain-based technology for illegal transactions. This is proving to be a difficult task for security agencies to identify. But how to prevent modern technology from being used in crime in the field of computers. India will have to develop a robust cyber crime system through the joint efforts of legal agencies, technology experts, industry.
2. How is the attack done?
- The report states that hackers typically use three modes for cyber-attacks, the most common being attacks by Trojan viruses. In addition, a stand-alone and remote server can steal data by inserting a virus into a computer system. Cyber experts say a commuter is being targeted within 14 minutes by hackers now resorting to ransomware. This is how about 60 percent of attacks on financial companies occur.
- In 2018, $ 6 billion was lost worldwide. According to a report by the Internet Society Online Trust, cyber attacks are expected to cost $ 20 billion by 2021.
- Earlier, Russian cyber firm Kapursky said last week in August that the incidence of cyber attacks on Indian institutions has increased after the cancellation of Article 370 and 35A in the Kashmir Valley and the country needs to be extra careful.
- The firm's cyber security researcher, Saurabh Sharma, says that after the abolition of Article 370, the incidence of cyber attacks in India has increased.
3. This is how you make hackers easier:-
- Usually people have a password that can be easily guessed, such as the name of their pet, the name of their home street, which should be a combination of alphabet, number and special character if you want to create a password.
4. Poor server setup:-
- The IT administrator has the responsibility of setting up the entire server so it may be possible to create a simple password and forget it. Although another administrator should change this password, it does not. Often the responsibilities of an IT administrator change very often. This makes it a lot easier to hack your setup.
5. One password, multiple accounts:-
- Many people run multiple accounts with a single password. It doesn't have to remember different passwords. If you do, become alert. Phishing usually involves sending lots of emails that have many attachments, such as an image, file leak, you open the attachment or the computer gets hacked immediately. However, this is not the case with spearfishing. In spearfishing, the hacker hacks the phone and asks you to open an email.
6. New cyber-security policy:-
- The central government will announce a cyber security policy in January to curb the ever-increasing cyber attacks. National Security Co-ordination Rajesh Pant said the proposed policy would enable the country to cyber-security and it would also help to achieve a $ 5,000 economy. Maharashtra Police registered only 31,000 cases against women in 2016, out of which 5,128 cases were registered in Mumbai.
- In view of this 2016 data, Maharashtra recorded more than 100% crime against women as compared to 2006, while in Mumbai case it could be increased by 400%. Given the fact that there are challenges to reporting crime against such women, women are reluctant to report such crimes. Speaking of 2016, the proportion of women employees in the police bed was only 7.28% and most of them were women constables. That is, even if a woman has reached the police to register a crime against her, the crime is to be registered by the police officer only, but a woman officer has to wait for hours or days for the victim to register the case.
