Wireless Internet |
If we rely on Space X and Google, internet connectivity problems will be gone forever. Both wanted to connect the land to the Internet, but are there monopolies and crooked business interests hidden behind them?
When we talk about global internet access, we see that there is a lot of difference between different countries. 96% of South Koreans go online regularly. While only 5% of people in the Central African Republic use the Internet. This situation may seem strange, but connecting the world to the cable is very difficult and expensive. But there is a solution, wireless internet, even from the sky.
How does the wireless Internet work?
➤ A very tall cell tower with a very large range sends signals to some of the smaller towers around it. Mobile phones are connected to these lower range towers. So far it has been working very well. But as the distance from these towers increases.
➤ The connection is weak. If there are few people living in a remote area, telecommunications companies rarely spend money to connect. So companies like Space X and Google are saying why not go up in order to increase business.
Different strategies:-
➤ Space X wants to connect the world with its Star Link project. It is a system of small satellites. The satellites will weigh about 200 kilograms. Only the rocket from the Space X will drop it in space from 340 to 1150 km altitude.
➤ Once activated, these satellites will receive a signal from the ground station. This will send the signals back to a larger area of the earth. The business will be much more than the capacity of the ground station.
➤ The satellites will be connected to each other. This will make the system more stable and provide a decidedly faster transmission rate. The first volume of satellites has exploded into the sky.
➤ In May 2019, Space X has floated 60 satellites. Star Link will need about 1,200 satellites to spread this service around the world. Its estimated cost is $ 10 billion.
Monopoly doubts:-
➤ Some people also say that accessing the Internet should be made a basic human right. That's a great idea, if you think seriously it can help a lot in educating yourself.
➤ You can always stay connected to the people you care about. But there are also business aspirations of private investors like Google, Space X which are different from responsibilities for society.
➤ No matter, the market will take care of that. But we can now predict, what will happen in the future? A large technology company, which also makes the Internet available, offers this feature with its own package.
➤ The project is ongoing in 63 developing countries. This app, called Free Basics, offers a very limited internet access by keeping the Facebook service at the center. It may sound great, but being free. But not so .
➤ Critics say this is a clear strategy, under which the dominance of Facebook in developing countries is spreading. He has also been charged with violating net neutrality. It is controlled by the websites, which is a counterpart to Facebook. What if a big company became the connectivity provider across the globe?
➤ After Hurricane Maria (A one type of cyclone) hit Puerto Rico in 2017, millions of people were disconnected from the Internet. But in a very short time, Google set up a balloon network there. So much help in relief and rescue work. But do we really need it? The answer is: Yes.
➤ For those far-flung areas where there are many populations. A lot of social interaction is not possible without the internet. Also if in the modern world, internet is a must if you want to do business.
➤ Supply chains, transactions and customer care are all online now. That is why if we want that no part of the world is completely separate, then if it has a chance to grow, then we should support the development that is taking place in that area.
Meanwhile, wireless connections may not be as fast as wired connections, but they are starting to provide the connectivity needed to meet the basic needs of personal and professional life.
