The user can hide the folder to protect some of his private files. But what if you have 1000 private folders? So you don't think how boring this task can be. The user selects the folder and hides it is really boring. But using the method provided here, the user can hide the drive containing his private folder.
Steps to hide your drive:-
Step-1: First, format the additional partition of the hard drive. Shrink space from the Disk Management Utility of Windows Vista and Windows 7 users can create new volumes without re-partitioning the hard drive using this option. Once the partition is created, transfer all private data to this new drive.
Step-2: Assuming that our private data is available on 'D' drive and is prevented from being visible in Windows Explorer, then the Group Policy Editor utility is used.
⇨ To use Group Policy Editor, click on Start.
⇨ Click on Run. Or use the Win + R shortcut.
⇨ Type Gpedit.msc in the Open Run dialog box and press enter.
Step-3: Now in the open Group Policy Editor window, select User Configuration on the left.
⇨ Now double-click Administrative Templates on the right side of the window.
⇨ Double click on Windows Components.
⇨ Now double click on File Explorer, so it will see a list of available items.
⇨ Double click on 'Hide these specified drives in My Computer'. So, its dialog box will open.
⇨ Select the 'Enabled' radio button here and select 'D' drive from the Options drop-down list.
⇨ Click on the Apply button and click on the OK button.
The 'D' drive from Windows Explorer will now be hided. Now whenever you want to access 'D' drive, you have to type 'D:' in the Run dialog box without typing 'D:' in the address bar of Windows Explorer. So that the drive can be accessed.
